CRC's LISOL
The Leuven Isotope and Separator On-Line is a gas catcher with a laser ion source coupled to a magnetic mass separator in order to produce isotopic beams of elements chemically unavailable in common ISOL facilities. Read more...
Travelling facilities
Some of our setups are intended for use beyond LISOL like the tape station, the windmill or the gas purifier. Some others are just known grand travelers, like MiniBall. Read more...
HIE-ISOLDE
Together with our international partners, we are involved in the High Intensity and Energy ISOLDE (HIE-ISOLDE) project. The aim of HIE-ISOLDE is twofold:
- increase the intensity of the present ISOLDE beams using more intense proton beams and upgrades of the laser ion source system,
- boost the energy of the REX-ISOLDE from the present 3 MeV/u to 10 MeV/u.
HIE-ISOLDE will allow unprecedented measurements using the radioactive ion beams that are available at ISOLDE. Examples are multistep Coulomb excitation, few-nucleon transfer reactions as well as deep-inelastic transfer reactions.
